Dear residents, families, and staff
trust this memo finds you well. Considering the recent increased antisemitic and hostile activities, feedback from residents, families, and staff, we have reached out to Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH) and asked for additional financial support and funding to increase and implement additional security measures for the Snider Campus. As an organization, we are committed to the health and safety of our residents, families, and staff. We have conducted a thorough security assessment and have identified areas where additional measures are warranted.
After careful consideration, we have decided to implement enhanced security services to fortify our community and provide a secure environment for all. The following measures have been and will be put in place as soon as possible:
- Increased Security Personnel: We will be hiring 2 security guards to be on site for 12 hours per day (0900-2100), 7 days per week, starting within the next few days and until end of March 2024 (at this time), to increase visibility, presence, and responsiveness throughout the facility, both inside and outside.
- Enhanced Access Control: we continue to maintain strict access control measures, including upgraded key card systems and increased scrutiny at entry points. The current renovations of the main entrance area and reception will allow better visibility and management of the front entrance, as well as other entry points throughout the facility.
- Surveillance Systems: Upgrading and expanding our surveillance systems to cover critical areas, ensuring comprehensive monitoring of communal spaces and potential vulnerable points.
- Security Awareness Programs: we are considering additional implementation of security awareness programs for staff and residents to foster a culture of vigilance and cooperation.
- Emergency Response Drills: continue with our practice of conducting periodic emergency response drills to ensure everyone is well-prepared and familiar with the established protocols.
- Collaboration with Local Authorities: Strengthening our collaboration with local law enforcement agencies to ensure a swift and coordinated response in the event of any security-related incidents. You may have noticed VPD cruisers and police personnel around the building, it is in response to our request for increased presence and visibility.
- Community Communication: we will continue to share regular communication updates regarding security measures, developments, and best practices to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged.
- Feedback Mechanism: As with any other concerns please continue to share your feedback and concerns for any suggestions for improvements in relations to any security issues. Please use info@louisbrier.com
These measures are designed to create a secure and supportive environment for everyone associated with the LBHH and WR community. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during the implementation phase of some of the initiatives. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out through info@louisbrier.com.
Thank you for your commitment to the safety and well-being of everyone.
Sincerely,
Dr. David Keselman, MN, DHA, CHE, RN
