Multi-Sensory Room - Drop-In Visits
Dear Families,
We know many of you are eager to experience the Multi-Sensory Room with your loved ones and may not fully understand the importance of the assessment process. To cater to this eagerness, we will be offering evening drop-in sessions as a chance for residents and families to explore the space together.
The room will be opened on selected days within the month of June and onward: Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Please note that the schedule may need to be changed occasionally due to special events and staff scheduling. For the most up-to-date schedule, please check daily postings on the resident boards or contact the Recreation Department at 604-267-4270 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Those who would like to take their loved one into the room without a completed sensory profile will have the opportunity to do so. However, please be aware that the resident may not have been assessed by the Music Therapy or Recreation Therapy Department Supervisors and, therefore, there may be a possibility some residents could find the environment overstimulating. It will be at the family’s discretion to bring them into the room.
To ensure a safe experience for all:
Before entering the room, please sanitize your hands and the resident’s hands.
Residents must always be accompanied and supervised by a family member, friend, or companion during their visit. Residents should never be left alone in the room.
Depending on busyness, please keep visits to 20 minutes to allow time for others. Please monitor your own time in the room.
A maximum of six people are allowed in the room at once. Of those six, we request no more than two wheelchairs in the room at one time to prevent overcrowding and ensure flow of the room.
Food and drinks are NOT permitted in the room.
Please do not remove any items from the room and leave it as you found it.
While in the room, feel free to just relax in the environment or explore the items in the room. Have fun!
