Temporary Overtime & Agency Funding
Hello everyone,
We want to share important news regarding a recent Ministry of Health decision that will affect all long-term care and assisted living providers across British Columbia. Vancouver Coastal Health has confirmed that temporary funding for overtime originally introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, will end on October 31, 2025.
This funding was put in place to help care homes manage the unique pressures of the pandemic, including workforce shortages and public health measures such as the Single Site Order. With the emergency response now officially over, government has decided to conclude this temporary support.
While this is a significant shift, it is part of a larger provincial transition back to standard funding models. It reflects a broader change in the way healthcare resources are being managed across the sector, not just at Louis Brier.
What this means for us:
Louis Brier, like other care homes, will need to carefully manage staffing costs without the additional relief funding.
Our leadership team will continue to support staff, maintain resident care standards, and manage resources responsibly.
What stays the same:
Our commitment to resident-centered care remains at the heart of everything we do.
We continue to value and support our staff, recognizing the dedication and professionalism you bring every day.
We will keep everyone informed and engaged as we move through this transition.
We share this information now so you are aware of the broader changes happening in healthcare in B.C. and how they may touch our organization. We are confident in our collective ability to adapt, and we are committed to working together to ensure Louis Brier continues to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.
Thank you for your ongoing dedication and for the important role you play in our community.
Thank you,
Dr. David Keselman, MN, DHA, CHE, RN
