Influenza A Outbreak Declared Over in Entire Louis Brier Home and Hospital
We are pleased to inform you that the Medical Health Officer (MHO) has officially declared the Influenza A outbreak at LBHH to be over. We can now return to our regular operations.
We sincerely appreciate everyone’s prompt actions, teamwork, and consistent adherence to infection prevention and control measures throughout the outbreak. Your collective efforts played an important role in bringing the outbreak to a conclusion.
As we transition back to regular operations, please ensure the following are completed and maintained:
Follow the PPO recommendations for Tamiflu.
Restock supplies, including PPE, alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR), disinfectant wipes, and NP swabs.
Participate in an outbreak debrief with your teams to review our response and identify opportunities for improvement.
Ongoing vigilance remains essential, particularly as we head into flu season. Please continue to:
Perform hand hygiene consistently and correctly.
Stay home when you are unwell and report symptoms promptly.
Maintain thorough cleaning and disinfection of equipment and high-touch surfaces.
Follow appropriate infection prevention and control practices at all times.
Your continued diligence is critical in preventing future outbreaks and maintaining a safe environment for our residents, families, visitors, and staff.
