Jewish Life

Synagogue

V’asu li Mikdash, v’shachanti b’tocham — And you shall make for Me a sanctuary and I will dwell amongst them (Shemot, 25:8)

We are blessed to have our own in-house synagogue. The Chava and Abrasha Wosk Synagogue provides a place to celebrate Shabbat, holidays and say kaddish when needed.

The synagogue provides daily afternoon mincha, weekly Shabbat and all holiday services. Services are led by staff, residents and volunteers. Community members are welcome.

Our Chaplain, Hazzan Rob Menes, manages the synagogue and can provide information regarding its use and services. Hazzan Rob Menes is also available to provide spiritual guidance and counselling.

Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy

Spiritual and emotional health are fundamental aspects of the quality of life promoted at Louis Brier Home & Hospital. The spiritual well-being of every resident is valued by all our employees. Programs and religious services address the needs of all residents, regardless of their faith tradition. In addition to daily and Shabbat Jewish prayer services, interfaith services are held biweekly for all residents.

Our Chaplain provides for your spiritual needs and those of your family as you face what can be a challenging stage of life. Chaplaincy can take many different forms, from individual counselling and guidance to schmoozing over a cup of coffee. He is an integral part of our Interdisciplinary Care Team, providing a visible presence that recognizes and advocates for the universal human need for acceptance, hope, love and faith.

Spiritual support is available to everyone at Louis Brier Home & Hospital, irrespective of religious affiliation. Spiritual support may also be accompanied by different modalities including music, recreation, social work and other visiting professionals.
