Lunadel DaclanManager, Infection Prevention & Control, Companion Program
Lunadel joined Louis Brier Home and Hospital in August 2017 when the Infection Control Practitioner position was newly created. Her role is to plan, develop, implement, manage and evaluate infection prevention and control programs with the intent of minimizing the risk of infectious disease for residents, staff, family members, companions, volunteers, and visitors. She acts as a liaison between LBHH and Vancouver Coastal Health regarding infection prevention and control guidelines and also in cases of infectious disease outbreaks.
Sonia CintiManager, Human Resources
Sonia joined Louis Brier Home and Hospital and Weinberg Residence in March 2017 when the newly created position was implemented. Sonia brings decades of hands-on Healthcare experience in both Acute and Long Term Care. Through continuing education, her experience includes full cycle recruitment, and most recently she is managing Labour Relations, Disability Management, Attendance/Wellness, and Occupational Health and Safety.
Vanessa TresterManager, Weinberg Residence
Vanessa has been managing the Weinberg Residence since its inception in 2003. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the Weinberg team, having 14+ years of management and leadership experience in Independent and Assisted Living. For several years, prior to entering the senior living sector, Vanessa worked with British Columbia’s Public Guardian and Trustee’s office. Vanessa’s passion for the study of aging led her to complete a Masters degree in Gerontology from the acclaimed Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California. Her expertise in the field is an invaluable skill when interacting with residents and their families.
Edy GovorchinManager Recreation, Culture and Music Therapy
Edy leads a broad expanse of recreational and cultural programming with a team of very dedicated professionals, including recreational therapists, music therapists, art therapists and activity program coordinators. She also oversees a department of 300 volunteers who provide additional services for our residents. Edy trained as a Recreation Therapist at Douglas College and is a Certified Practitioner in Dementia Care Mapping, certified through the University of Bradford. She’s been in the profession since 1995 and has been with the Louis Brier Home & Hospital since 2001.
Alex PortnikNurse Manager
Alex joined Louis Brier Home and Hospital/Weinberg Residence on September 2017. His educational background includes Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He prides himself on his positive energy, teamwork and love of education. He has a diverse clinical nursing background that is critical to care team success and resident well-being. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings with varying levels of acuity and specialization, including endoscopy, chemotherapy, cardiac diagnostics, dialysis, medicine and surgery. His diverse background and resourcefulness provide a unique perspective with which to develop, implement, sustain and evaluate continuous quality improvements and focused education.
Nicole EncarnacionNurse Manager
Nicole is incredibly honored to be working with an amazing team of diverse and compassionate individuals. Her background in acute care spans for more than 10 years. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Nursing. Nicole is passionate about leading by example and building trust by being authentic and transparent with her leaders, peers and team. She holds herself accountable to the same expectations she holds for her team as her guiding philosophy. She is a self-starter and always strives to approach life positively.

Helena SebescenManager, Food Services
Helena brings 10 years of Business and Hospitality Management experience from Brazil. She moved to Canada 5 years ago to study Food and Nutrition Management at Humber College, Toronto. After graduating, Helena joined Compass Group Canada as a Manager in Training, which gave her the opportunity to relocate to Vancouver to join Restaurant Associates in the Air Canada Lounge at YVR Airport. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Helena found her place in seniors living and healthcare, when she started working at Louis Brier.
Melissa TadesonManager, Housekeeping & Laundry Services
Melissa Tadeson joined Louis Brier Home and Hospital in November 2011. Melissa has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry having managed housekeeping services at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR), the Hilton Vancouver Airport and the Marriott Hotel. Melissa holds a Diploma in Business Management, a Certificate in Effective Management, and has taken a course on Guidelines for New Managers at the UBC Sauder School of Business. In September 2020, Melissa became a member of the Marquise Hospitality team, where she continues to support Louis Brier in the role of Manager, Housekeeping & Laundry Services.
