*An Important Community Update from the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver*
Update: Letter to UBC President
Good afternoon,
I hope this message finds you well amidst these extremely challenging times.
We want to express our deep appreciation for your response in signing the community letter to Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon, president and vice-chancellor of UBC. The letter was hand-delivered to Dr. Bacon on his first day on November 1st.
Please find a copy of the signed letter here. While there may have been some adjustments to its content from earlier versions, the underlying tone and primary message remain consistent. The signatory information on the letter is based on what was provided to us via the form, via email, and what is in our database. Should you notice any inaccuracies or wish to make corrections, please feel free to request an update to your signature via this form.
We would like to take a moment to recognize the tremendous efforts of our staff and lead signatories, who worked tirelessly to assemble this letter, with over 2,100 signatories, in just two business days. Their dedication, alongside your unwavering support, led to an incredible response.
We are pleased to share that representatives from Hillel BC and our advocacy agent, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), met with President Bacon on his first day. As expressed in the letter, we are committed to working with UBC to ensure a safe environment for our Jewish students, faculty, and staff. Yesterday, we received a response from Dr. Bacon, which we have included here.
To stay updated on developments in the community and related initiatives, we encourage you to explore our Local Israel Support and Resource page.

Finally, we invite you, your families, and friends to come out tonight, Tuesday, November 7th to the Vancouver Art Gallery at 6:30 p.m. for a vigil marking one month since the October 7th massacre.
Once again, we extend our deepest thanks for your support.
