Welcome New Foundation ED

Mazel Tov to Ayelet Cohen Weil, our next Executive Director of the Louis Brier Foundation

The Board of Directors of the Louis Brier Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Ayelet Cohen Weil as the new Executive Director of the Foundation. Ayelet has an impressive background in non-profit management, fundraising, strategic planning, community relations and development, with more than 12 years of experience working in Jewish community organizations, both in BC and Israel.

Prior to joining our Foundation on February 1st, 2021, Ayelet held the position of Associate Director of Community Engagement at the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver. She was also the Manager of Women’s Philanthropy and Manager of Major Gifts for Jewish Federation’s Annual Campaign. Her previous experience includes working in academia at the Interdisciplinary Centre (IDC) Herzliya and Managing Director of Hillel BC. Ayelet holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy – Conflict Resolution and Mediation with International Mediation Certification and distinction from Tel Aviv University.

Ayelet has a commitment to fulfilling our mission statement, of raising funds to maintain and foster Jewish values, the well-being, care and happiness of the Jewish seniors on the Snider Campus. She has a full understanding of the current needs of our Home and Hospital, and is extremely qualified and well suited to fulfilling the goals of the Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation.

“After more than 12 years of working in Jewish communal life and being exposed to the many facets of our community, I have decided to embrace the mitzvah of caring warmly and worthily for our seniors. The individuals who built our community for us.

I started working with the younger generation in my years with Hillel. With Federation, I worked across our community with Major Donors and Lions of Judah. In my position as Associate Director of Community Engagement, I worked with the regional communities, newcomers, young adults, Ben Gurion Society, and partner agencies.

Now, I truly wish to stress the kavod we owe our elderly to a younger generation. I would love to raise their understanding of the centrality of our Foundation across all the generations of our community. The idea of creating a substantial impact excites me the most, especially after what we have experienced in 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic.

My goals are to keep in constant contact with our donors, to always greet them with a big smile, and to ensure that the needs of our Jewish seniors are met in a manner that instills dignity, fulfillment and happiness. I am incredibly excited and humbled for this opportunity.” ~ Cohen Weil

Ayelet’s’ experience will revitalize our Foundation and improve our level of community involvement at the Snider Campus. We have no doubt that Ayelet’s experience, charisma and devotion to our Jewish community will ensure a seamless and strategic transition.

We look forward to working with you in your new role, and the positive impact this will have on our senior population!
