Companion Program

The Louis Brier Companion Program

Our Companion Program was created in 2002 by families of Louis Brier residents who wanted their loved ones to have additional quality care and companionship beyond what is provided in the care package. The program offers you and your family the opportunity to arrange for caring individuals to spend additional quality time with you or your loved ones.

If you or your family wishes to have additional support, services may be requested through the Companion Program. The program’s manager will work with you and your family to find an appropriate match with one of over 100 companions who are registered to provide services on the campus.

Companions supplement the care provided by Louis Brier Home & Hospital staff; they do not replace it. Services provided by companions can include:

  • Social companionship
  • Accompaniment on outings and personal appointments
  • Personal meal assistance
  • Additional showers and/or baths
  • Additional personal assistance
  • Additional exercise assistance
  • Light housekeeping

“Our mother’s companions are wonderful. I honestly believe that the attention, care and love that she received from them has not only brought her calmness, but has extended her life. We have such peace of mind knowing that they are with her, looking after her.”

-Ruth Frankenburg Becker

Companions are independent contractors who are paid directly by you or your family at a mutually agreed upon hourly wage. They are not employees of the Louis Brier Home & Hospital.
